From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

In a recent change in opinion, Jose Mourinho admitted he is now willing to take the Europa League more seriously - as it offers a route to the Champions League.
“My opinion changed because the rules changed and the Europa League - the winner has a direct [path] to the Champions League,” Mourinho said.
“In the last couple of years the Europa League for the big clubs has a different meaning."
Currently sat in second place in Group A on six points, tied with Feyenoord, a win this evening will see United move to nine points and put the side in a strong position for qualification.

Manchester United's Europa League results:
- Manchester United 4-1 Fenerbahce
- Manchester United 1-0 Zorya Luhansk
- Feyenoord 1-0 Manchester United
30 min: Blind loses possession following United's corner and Fenerbahce immediately break down the right flank. It's three on two but Lens' slight hesitation and weak inside path enables the rest of the visitors' defence to scramble back in time to throw up some form of obstacle. The ball is eventually pinged in from the left but the home side struggle to get a head onto it and United breathe a sigh of relief.
30 min - substitution: Yep, that's Pogba's night over. He's replaced by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. United fans will be hoping it's nothing too serious.
34 min: Chance for United! Zlatan leads the charge this time as he bursts into the opposition's final third and plays through Rashford to the right of him. He puts slightly too much on his pass though and the England international is forced far wider than he would have liked. Still, with some neat footwork, he manages to shake his man and deliver a low-driven ball across the face of the goal. Ibrahimovic was poised to pounce but keeper Demirel sticks out an important leg to intercept the pass and the ball is subsequently booted into the stands.
39 min: Zlatan is getting all riled up by the looks of it. Fenerbahce's Kjaer confronts him near the touchline after being subject to a late tackle by the Swede who then proceeds to grab the defender by the face. It falls to Mourinho of all people to intervene to diffuse the situation.
43 min: More altercations as Rooney catches Potuk late. After more confrontation, both sets of players rush to get involved and the referee struggles to get a hold of things before showing the Fenerbahce keeper a yellow card for his unnecessary involvement in the matter.
45 min: Three minutes of extra time flash up on the fourth official's board. That tells you everything you need to know. It's been a fiery affair so far.
45+1 min: Sow threatens again! The ball is whipped in from the right this time and the Fenerbahce forward rises highest in the United box to meet it. He can't quite get above it though and his effort shoots over David de Gea's bar.
HALF TIME: Fenerbahce 1-0 Manchester United
United head into the break trailing courtesy of Moussa Sow's second minute volley. It's been a poor, scrappy half from the visitors who are allowing the home side to get under their skin. They'll need to keep a lid on it in the second 45 minutes if they're to come away with anything from tonight's fixtures.
