Barcelona suffered an emphatic 4-0 defeat in Paris two weeks ago but outgoing coach Luis Enrique is confident his side can “score six” to advance in what would be the most remarkable second-leg comeback in the history of the competition.

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. No team has ever overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit and Paris Saint-Germain won’t give up their advantage easily at the Camp Nou.

Barca have been off the pace this season, leading to Enrique to confirm he would leave at the end of the season, but they were back to their best on the weekend, scoring five goals against Celta Vigo – the amount that is required on Wednesday night.

Team news…

Barcelona have new injury worries for what could be Enrique’s final Champions League as their manager, with only defenders Jeremy Mathieu and Aleix Vidal remaining sidelined.

PSG have received a triple boost ahead of the game with midfielders Adrien Rabiot, Angel Di Maria and Thiago Motta all available and have travelled to Barcelona after recovering from their respective injuries.

Player to watch…

Lionel Messi. There are goals that need to be scored for Barcelona and Messi will be the centre of everything on Wednesday evening. Luis Suarez and Neymar will work off him but with the hosts needing at least four goals to take the game to extra time, you can be sure Messi will be in full attacking flow to ensure it happens.

KICK-OFF! The second half is under way!

Samuel Lovett8 March 2017 20:53

46 min: A strong start from the visitors! Draxler drives dangerously into Barcelona's box and looks poised to let loose before Rafinha sticks in a vital foot to knock the ball away from the German. It ends up rolling out for a corner-kick but what a well-timed bit of defending that was.

PENALTY for Barcelona!

Neymar rushed to the byline inside PSG's box in a bid to reach Iniesta's clever reverse pass that cut between Meunier and Maruinhos. He managed to get around Meunier but the defender tripped and, on his way down, crashed into the Brazilian who was sent sprawling. The ref initially waved the penalty away but his assistant said otherwise and the penalty was awarded.

GOAL! Barcelona 3-0 PSG (Messi pen, 50 min)

Calm as a cucumber, Messi buries the ball into the left-hand corner of the PSG goal. Kevin Trapp didn't stand a chance. One goal to go!

Samuel Lovett8 March 2017 20:57

53 min: Chance for Cavani! The player got onto the end of a quick-fire cross inside Barcelona's own box but couldn't direct his attempt into the back of the net, finding the post instead. A let-off for the hosts!

55 min - substitution: Ángel Di María replaces Lucas Moura.

Samuel Lovett8 March 2017 21:05

58 min: Barca have really got the wind in their sails now as Messi mounts another attack, worming his way into the PSG box from where he seeks to find an opening to let loose. He's quickly closed down though and the visitors' defence frantically manages to get hold off possession before booting the danger clear.

60 min: PSG corner. It's pumped in from the right, falling inside the six-yard box where it richoetes dangerously off a number of bodies before Cavani pounces with a well-struck volley near the right-hand side byline.

GOAL! Barcelona 3-1 PSG (Cavani, 62 min):

Could that be the goal that decides the game? Quite possibly! It was bread-and-butter stuff from the visitors, with a long, searching ball pumped from deep into the Barcelona box. Rakitic went shoulder-to-shoulder with Kurzawa but was unable to stop him from heading the ball back to an unmarked Cavani. Catching the ball on the half-bounce, the forward fired the ball into the roof of the net to secure that all-important away goal for the visitors. Sublime stuff.
