From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Prediction
Arsenal 2-0 Qarabag: Emery will field a team of youngsters and they will do just enough to comfortably beat their opponents.
Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
37 minutes
Ozil whips in a corner, which is met by Nketiah. He can't get above the ball, though, and his header loops harmlessly over the bar.
Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
39 minutes
Unai Emery will no doubt be watching his younger players closely tonight, but it's not clear how much he'll learn. Arsenal are completely dominant; it feels more like a training exercise than a competitive game.
Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
42 minutes
Arsenal do not appear in any rush to score more goals and put the game beyond Qarabag. They might not need to, though. The visitors have yet to record a shot on goal, which suggests they probably won't find the net.
Half time: The referee opts not to add on any time at the end of the half. Lacazette's goal gives Arsenal the lead in a game they've completely dominated. Not one that will live long in the memory of those Arsenal fans in attendance.
Those who have braved a bitterly cold winter night in north London to watch this game deserve some credit. They've not been treated to a classic. There have, though, been some promising signs from the likes of Willock and Saka. Let's hope for a more eventful second half.
Arsenal get us back underway. There are more goals in this if they want them.
Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
46 minutes
Maitland-Niles has the first shot of the half, but it's a wayward one. He dribbles forward from the left, cuts inside and goes for goal.
Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
50 minutes
Jenkinson attempts a cross, which is blocked. The ball comes back to the full back, who has time and space to shoot. His left-footed strike is blocked again, though.
