Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Arsenal will play a second-string side against Qarabag this evening in their final group match, with Europa League qualification and top place in the group already secured.

Prediction

Arsenal 2-0 Qarabag: Emery will field a team of youngsters and they will do just enough to comfortably beat their opponents.

Arsenal 0-0 Qarabag

5 minutes

First bit of defending for the visitors. Willock drives forward from midfield and wins a free kick. Ozil swings it in but it's headed away.

Arsenal 0-0 Qarabag

'Flat' would be a kind way of describing the atmosphere. Pre-season friendlies tend to generate more enthusiasm than this.

Arsenal 0-0 Qarabag

9 minutes

Da Silva is forced into a save as Saka cuts inside and curls a shot towards the far corner. A first glimpse of what the teenager brings to this team.

Arsenal 0-0 Qarabag

13 minutes

Ozil turns on the style, beating a man and then flicking the ball back to a teammate. Saka then bursts forward and draws a foul. Chances have been at a premium so far.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag (Lacazette)

17 minutes

Lacazette opens the scoring. Ozil plays the ball into the Frenchman, who moves away from his marker and drills the ball low past Da Silva. There could be a few more goals in this for Arsenal.

Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag

Crucial last ditch defending by Sokratis. Medvedev finds himself yards out from goal but the Greek defender gets across with a sliding tackle.

Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag

24 minutes

Arsenal take a corner quickly and the ball makes its way out to Elneny. He decides to shoot from 40 yards out. Predictably, it's nowhere near finding the net.

Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag

29 minutes

Ozil floats a free kick into the box from the right. It's a dangerous ball, but Sokratis is penalised for a foul.

Callum Rice-Coates13 December 2018 20:32

Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag

31 minutes

Arsenal are very comfortable here. Other than a couple of scares, Qarabag haven't threatened, and it feels like the hosts don't need to move out of first gear. It isn't making for a great spectacle.

Callum Rice-Coates13 December 2018 20:35

Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag

34 minutes

Ozil appears to have picked up a knock. He's not moving freely, although this is a game that doesn't really require much running. He could probably get through it without breaking into a sprint.
