Jess Carter is loving life in England’s Euro 2022 camp after an ‘insane’ tournament opener at Old Trafford.

England manager Sarina Wiegman, spoke to BBC One ahead of kick off saying: “Before the last game we were relaxed too. It was a very big game, the opening game of the tournament in front of such a crowd.

“We were working up to that game for a long time. We had moments where we lost the ball quicker than we should, but we’re ready now again.

“It’s a big game against a very good opponent. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Norway won 4-1 against Northern Ireland in their first game of the 2022 Uefa Women’s Euros and are looking to win their opening two matches at a European Championship tournament for the first time since 1993, with victories in the semi-final and final that year.

They faced the host nation at the last Euros tournament, losing 1-0 in the group stage against the Netherlands and the last time they defeated the host nation in such a tournament was in 1995, beating Sweden in the first leg of that year’s semi-final before losing the second leg and going out 7-5 on aggregate.
