England suffered their first defeat since the Qatar World Cup as a late winner from 17-year-old forward Endrick earned Brazil a deserved 1-0 friendly win at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate’s side were hoping to push on as they continue their preparations for Euro 2024 this summer - but with captain Harry Kane injured and Jude Bellingham frustrated, the Three Lions lacked a creative spark.

Brazil went closest in the first half, hitting the post through Lucas Paqueta, and took the lead in the 80th minute as substitute Endrick tapped in after Vinicius Jr’s shot was saved by Jordan Pickford.

Paqueta was fortunate not to receive a second yellow card after one of several fouls on Bellingham - while another concern for Southgate would have been Kyle Walker joining his lengthy injury list ahead of Tuesday’s match against Belgium.

England 0-1 Brazil

86 mins: England still look comfortable on the ball but they haven’t really created anything of note in this half, with the performance a little similar to most friendlies: disjointed and lacking flair at times. Rashford tries the one two with Gomez but Brazil clear.

England 0-1 Brazil

83 mins: So England are behind and have around 10 minutes to save the result. The offside looked tight but Vini Jr had timed his run to perfection.

GOAL! England 0-1 Brazil

79 mins: GOAL! The away side have the ball in the net but it it’ll be checked for offside.

Pereira clips a lofted through ball over the top and Vinicius Jr. is clean through. He’s running at Pickford and he hits a shot straight at him – it bounces off the Everton ‘keeper and falls at the feet of Endrick, who taps in for the easiest goal of his fledgling career.
