From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Follow live coverage after Crystal Palace faced Tottenham Hotspur today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The hosts had made a disappointing start to the new campaign and Oliver Glasner was coming under some pressure, despite last year’s excellent form to end the season. But this result will go some way to easing those concerns, as Palace beat Spurs 1-0 thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s strike, buried from the left side of the six-yard box after Eberechi Eze’s brilliant flick.

For Spurs it’s a missed opportunity to keep a recent consistent run going and move up into the top six, leaving Ange Postecoglou needing to answer more uncomfortable questions about his side’s inability to string results together. Follow all the reaction below.
