Crystal Palace vs Southampton LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction
Patrick Vieira has now earned three successive wins at Selhurst Park
French forward Odsonne Edouard’s first-half strike was enough for Crystal Palace to earn a narrow win over struggling Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Palace dominated the opening period and deservedly went into the break in front after Edouard steered home the ball from close range in the 38th minute after the Palace striker had an earlier effort ruled out following a VAR review.
Southampton were much improved in the second half, with Che Adams missing two glorious chances to level, while Stuart Armstrong’s low drive came out off the post.
The visitors could not find an equaliser, however, and Southampton stayed 16th in the standings, two points above the relegation zone, while Palace moved into the top half with their fourth victory of the campaign. (

Palace break on the counter and Ayew bursts down the right with Zaha keeping pace with him all the way. Ayew hesitates to put a cross into the middle for the Ivorian and it allows Caleta-Car to get back and block the cross.

Vieira was about to make a change and bring Mateta on, but he's changed his mind as Olise bursts forward down the right. He whips it into the near post from the byline, but Bazunu pushes it away just in front of Schlupp.

Edozie spins away from Mitchell down the right and he squares it into Aribo in the middle. It's crowded in the box, but he manages to squeeze a shot towards goal. There's no power on it though, and it's a comfortable save for Guaita.

Palace win a corner, and it's a good delivery from Olise. Andersen is hovering near the penalty spot but he wasn't expecting it and it bounces off his chest before Salisu hooks it away.
