Crystal Palace vs Southampton LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction
Patrick Vieira has now earned three successive wins at Selhurst Park
French forward Odsonne Edouard’s first-half strike was enough for Crystal Palace to earn a narrow win over struggling Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Palace dominated the opening period and deservedly went into the break in front after Edouard steered home the ball from close range in the 38th minute after the Palace striker had an earlier effort ruled out following a VAR review.
Southampton were much improved in the second half, with Che Adams missing two glorious chances to level, while Stuart Armstrong’s low drive came out off the post.
The visitors could not find an equaliser, however, and Southampton stayed 16th in the standings, two points above the relegation zone, while Palace moved into the top half with their fourth victory of the campaign. (

The Palace fans and players aren't happy with the referee as they think he's given cheap free-kicks to Southampton. Ward-Prowse was tripped that time and Bazunu takes it, but it's comfortably cleared by Mitchell.

Ward-Prowse lifts in a good free-kick from the left and Guaita comes a long way off his line to punch it away just in front of Salisu. He gets distance on it and the pressure is off Palace for a moment.

Palace are dropping deeper in their own half as they attempt to see out the win. Edozie has switched out to the left and he clips in a good cross to Mara at the far post, but he glances his header wide.

It's a heavy challenge by Hughes on Djenepo, but he doesn't stop the Southampton attack. They switch it out to Lyanco on the right, and he bursts past Zaha to get into the box. Guehi stands tall though and stops him from picking out a cross.

Edozie peels away down the right and again, Southampton have bodies in the box for him to aim for. He goes for power as he drills it into the six-yard box, but Guaita gets enough on it to deflect it away from goal.
