Brighton vs Chelsea LIVE: Premier League result and final score tonight after Adam Webster goal earns point
Brighton 1-1 Chelsea: Thomas Tuchel’s side drop further points as winless Premier League run extends to four games
Follow live reaction after Chelsea dropped points for the fourth Premier League match in a row as they were held to a 1-1 draw by an impressive Brighton side at the Amex Stadium. Adam Webster’s bullet header from a corner pulled Brighton level on 59 minutes after Hakim Ziyech had given Chelsea the lead against the run of play midway through the first half.
The result means Chelsea are still yet to win a Premier League match in 2022 and it leaves them 12 points behind leaders Manchester City, who beat them 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, while having played a game more. Thomas Tuchel’s side are also a point behind Liverpool having played two games more than the second-placed side.
Chelsea were often second-best to Brighton and struggled to create many chances against Graham Potter’s side. Ziyech’s opener was a deflected strike from distance and Romelu Lukaku had another quiet game before being substituted on 79 minutes. Follow live reaction from Brighton vs Chelsea below:
Chelsea’s title hopes suffer blow as battling Brighton hit back to claim point
Chelsea FC’s unconvincing form continued as their winless run stretched to four Premier League games following an entertaining 1-1 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Hakim Ziyech fired the European champions into a first-half lead at the Amex Stadium with a low strike against the run of play.
But the third-placed Blues were second best for much of the evening and could have few complaints about stand-in Seagulls skipper Adam Webster levelling with a thumping 60th-minute header.

Reaction from Adam Webster
Brighton’s goalscorer, Adam Webster, spoke to BT Sport after the game and touched on the character within the squad. He said:
I think for the whole game we were the better team. They had a spell at the end but other than that we were the dominant team and on another day hopefully get three points.
“In the first half we were by far the better team. It was a goal from nowhere. It was a bit of a low blow for us but we stuck in there. We have always shown character to come back and get something from the game.
“The whole squad... Steven Alzate came in tonight and played out of his skin. He’s not played 90 minutes in a long time and did outstanding. We have quite a few missing through injuries so it shows the strength in depth we have got in the squad and it gives the manager a headache.
“We like the physical battles. Romelu Lukaku is a world-class player. I’d never played against him before so it was a challenge but we showed we could deal with him.
Brighton 1 - 1 Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel needs to turn things around at Chelsea. They’re dropping too many points and if they aren’t careful they’ll be pulled back into the battle for a top four place. West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United all have games in hand on the Blues.
Adam Webster rescues a point for Brighton as Seagulls earn draw with Chelsea
Adam Webster’s powerful second half header earned Brighton a more than deserved point against an under par Chelsea. The Blues took the lead through a deflected 20-yard shot from Hakim Ziyech but had little else to celebrate as they were out-worked by the home side.

Brighton 1 - 1 Chelsea
It was an impressive game that did nothing for the Premier League table. Chelsea remain third and Brighton ninth. Graham Potter will be over the moon with that result. For a good deal of the game Brighton were in control and if they can bring in a clinical goalscorer they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
Full-time: Brighton 1 - 1 Chelsea
90+4 mins: The points are shared at the Amex Stadium! It’s a worthy result, neither team really deserved to lose this one. Brighton were fantastic, they limited Chelsea’s chances in front of goal but weren’t clinical enough themselves.
It’s another draw for Brighton and another game Chelsea go without a win.
Brighton 1 - 1 Chelsea
90+2 mins: Maupay shoots from the edge of the ‘D’ but Thiago Silva gets a block in. Both teams are goin for it here and Alonso fouls March on the right wing. This is a chance for Brighton.
MacAllister swings it into the box but Chelsea manage to head it away!
