Brentford have found it difficult to penetrate the Palace defence. Having most of their shots from outside the box, they have only had touches inside the area after long throw-ins from Jensen or free-kicks from deep positions. Up against Mitchell, Mbeumo must try and run at the left-back and get to the byline with Toney available in the middle. As for Palace, they have looked dangerous from corners, but have not been a threat from open play. With Lokonga on the pitch, they must look for the midfielder, with the Arsenal loanee dropping into spaces and playing smart passes between the Brentford defenders.

The game is goalless at the break with both teams struggling to find an opening. Norgaard had the first chance, but the Brentford midfielder shot just wide from outside the box. Looking to make the most of their height, Palace then responded with headers from Andersen, with the defender hitting the goalkeeper with his efforts. Mbeumo then looked to break the deadlock just before half-time, but dragged his low effort wide. Toney, who has been Brentford's main threat this season, only had one shot, with a tame effort from the edge going straight at Guaita.

Playing it into Toney, the striker takes a poor touch, with the ball bouncing off his foot and away from the goal. The game then stops with Toney offside.

Mbeumo goes short with a free-kick, finding Dasilva who chips it down the right side of the box. Unmarked, Jensen drives the ball across the box, but it is cleared away.

Raya and Guaita have had saves to make in the first 39 minutes, but they have been routine. Palace's best chances have come with headers, all being tame. For Brentford, they have found it difficult to get into the box, with most of their attempts coming from distance.
