Of course Arsenal game is important for title - Pep

Arsenal host Manchester City in a rearranged Premier League fixture that will have big ramifications on the title race when the two rivals clash at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

The Gunners have a three-point lead – with a game in hand - over Pep Guardiola’s men ahead of the first league meeting between the sides this season. Mikel Arteta’s side reached the halfway point with a total of 50 points but have dropped five points in their last two games, against Everton and Brentford, leaving the door open for City to chase them down.

The two teams clashed in the FA Cup last month with City running out 1-0 winners and the reigning champions will move to the top of the table should they defeat Arsenal again this evening.

Could tonight’s encounter determine where the Premier League trophy ends up at the end of the season?

Follow all the updates from the Emirates as Arsenal take on Manchester City:

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

59 mins: No penalty! Erling Haaland is correctly judged offside by the VAR, Gabriel’s yellow card is rescinded and Arsenal have a reprieve.

The crowd goes wild when the decision comes through the big screen.

Penalty to Man City!

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

57 mins: Erling Haaland and Gabriel tussle with each other as a ball comes over the top. Haaland is brought down in the penalty area and wins a spot kick for the visitors!

Was he onside when the ball was played though? VAR are checking it.

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

54 mins: Things are bubbling over as both sets of players grow increasingly frustrated when decisions don’t go their way. Arsenal sweep down the right and win a throw in that comes to Martin Odegaard.

He slips a through ball forward to Saka who pulls one back for Jorginho in the box. Jorginho shoots and Ederson makes a nice save low to his left.

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

51 mins: Mikel Arteta rolls the ball away from Kevin De Bruyne after is bobbles out of play and the City man gives the Arsenal boss a shove.

That gets the crowd going again and they give De Bruyne a bit of stick as he gets the ball back in play. City win a free kick and curl a deep cross over to the far side of the area where Tomiyasu scoops it clear.

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

48 mins: Takehiro Tomiyasu goes in the book for time-wasting when trying to take a throw in. The referee is having none of that tonight.

Jack Grealish drives the ball down the left wing and goes past the left-back. Bernardo Silva makes an underlapping run and is given the ball before lifting it over to the middle of the box.

Erling Haaland gets a head to the ball but can’t turn it towards goal.

Second half: Arsenal 1-1 Man City

There have been no changes from Mikel Arteta or Pep Guardiola at half-time. This potential title decider is delicately poised at the halfway stage with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

At this stage Arsenal would settle for a point to keep themselves ahead of City. The visitors need to pick up all three.
