Follow all the latest reaction from stage 20 of the Tour de France today.

Slovenian Tadej Pogacar is now poised to win a second consecutive Tour de France title after the Slovenian retained the overall leader’s yellow in the 20th stage, a 30.8-km individual time trial won by Belgian Wout van Aert on Saturday.

Barring a crash in Sunday’s final stage in Paris, the 22-year-old Pogacar will finish ahead of Dane Jonas Vingegaard and Ecuador’s Richard Carapaz, who are set to end up second and third overall, respectively.

Here comes the 90-year-old Alejandro Valverde in his 1,245,364th time trial.

We haven’t mentioned Geraint Thomas since he set off. The Welshman is already two minutes down at the second checkpoint. He is not particularly committed to this effort, simply getting round is the aim for Thomas today.

You can’t blame him. He dislocated his shoulder in the first week and had it popped back in on the road. He has continued and will finish the race.

‘Julian! Julian! Julian!’ rings out at the start line as the ever-popular Julian Alaphilippe rolls down the ramp to start his time trial.

The reigning world road race champion won the opening stage of this year’s Tour de France to take the jersey and been in many, many, many breakaways ever since.

A special rider.

Richie Porte has been a rather forgotten man at this Tour de France. He could have been a GC contender but lost two minutes on the opening stage and hasn’t really shown his face since. The Australian also suffered a crash a few days later.

He can be a superb time trialist, but he isn’t coming into this in the best form.

Who left can beat Kasper Asgreen then? I would say Van Aert, Vingegaard and Pogacar are the only real threats to the Dane now.

Julian Alaphilippe and Rigoberto Uran could also put some decent TT’s in but I don’t expect them to challenge for the overall victory.

Kung goes slower than Asgreen! Oh dear, the Swiss time trialist really did not pace that well. Ten seconds up on Asgreen after the first time check. A huge 16 seconds behind the Dane on the line.

Second place for Kung. He will not be pleased with that.

Kung will have been super confident after the first seven kilometres. Now, after that second time check, he will know there is absolutely no room for error.

Oooooo, what do I know?! Kung loses ten seconds over the middle 13 kilometres and is now just 0.25 seconds in front of Kasper Asgreen!

This is going to be so, so close on the line.
