Pogacar and Vingegaard will have to produce a superhuman display to top that time from the Belgian.

We have a new leader! Wout van Aert crosses the line 21 seconds faster than Kasper Asgreen! 35’53 is the time for the Belgian.

That will take some beating.

Now Jonas Vingegaard gets his time trial going. Next up is the yellow jersey of Tadej Pogacar.

Wout van Aert is around three kilometres from the finish now as fourth place Ben O’Connor begins his ride and the podium placers prepare to roll off the start ramp.

Ineos Grenadiers’ Richard Carapaz is the first to go. He is just six seconds off second place Vingegaard but is considered a far inferior time trialist to the Dane.

Wilco Kelderman is fifth! Fifth! We’ve barely mentioned him in this whole race and yet the Dutch rider is just three minutes off the podium coming into the final time trial.

He will almost certainly lose time on Pogacar and Vingegaard today, but it has still been a magnificent Tour for Kelderman and Bora-Hansgrohe, particularly when you consider they lost Peter Sagan midway through the race.

Van Aert comes up to the second time check at 20.1 kilometres and he is a huge 24 seconds in front of Kung! What a ride so far from the Belgian.

If nothing else, a win for him would prove I actually have an ounce of predicting ability...

Just eight riders left to set off! Peio Bilbao has just gone down the ramp and next up it’s the highest placed Frenchman Guillaume Martin.
