The 40-year-old Filipino multiple world champion was quicker and more accurate as he controlled each round and cruised to the triumph over Broner, 29, who fought gamely and stayed upright despite being hit with several heavy combinations.
Retired great Floyd Mayweather attended the fight, fueling speculation of a rematch against Pacquiao. Undefeated Mayweather beat Pacquiao in 2015.

First though, it's time for the co-main event. Badou Jack vs Marcus Browne. The fighters are in the ring and we're about to get underway.
Jack, a former super-middleweight champion, is best known to British fans for his brilliant draw with James DeGale and sports a record of 22-1-3.
Browne is 22-0, but has not shared the ring with the same ilk of fighter.
RD 1:
Jack has been a notoriously slow starter in previous fights and so it proves again as Browne starts the faster of the pair, landing heavy shots on the Swede's guard and dictating with the jab.
RD 2:
Jack hasn't really thrown anything of note to put off Browne, perhaps wary of his opponent's big left hand, and on cue it lands and is then followed up with an uppercut. Jack really needs to settle into this bout.
RD 3:
Jack throws a strong right hand lead to start the round in an attempt to assert some authority. He then begins to charge in off the back of jabs to close down the range and nullify Browne's quicker snappier punches from the outside. The Swede's clearly been told to try and turn this one into a messy scrap.
RD 4:
Jack continues to up the pace, leading with the head and backing Browne up onto the ropes. He's not managing to land anything clean though and when Browne retaliates there's a real thud to his work. Can he manage to keep Jack off, though, when making such a big step up to world level?
RD 5:
It's getting increasingly dirty in there. Browne is charging in and clinching, Jack is leaning in with the head, but then Browne finds a series of left hands which are enough to win the round. Jack is still struggling to find a rhythm.
RD 6:
A definitive round for Browne. He's using his size and reach to control the distance now and is landing with a number of whipped left hands to the body before teeing off upstairs. Jack needs to find a new gear because this bout is starting to slip away.
