From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Dillian Whyte has moved into contention for a rematch with Anthony Joshua after winning his grudge match with Dereck Chisora by devastatingly stopping his rival in the 11th round.

Two years after narrowly outpointing his opponent, Whyte demonstrated his improvement and furthered Chisora's decline by leaving him unconscious for a worryingly long time at London's 02 Arena.

He was expected to be confirmed as the next challenger to Joshua at Wembley on April 13, but potentially faces an anxious wait while the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion considers instead fighting in the US for the first time.

Whyte will regardless remain at world-level as one of the division's leading contenders and a likely future challenger to Joshua, but if he is forced to wait could struggle to maintain the impressive momentum he has built.

The way Chisora's head heavily hit the canvas after Whyte's powerful left hook landed secured the latest damaging defeat of what has already been a difficult career, meaning that at 34 and with fewer options he should consider retirement.

Who's going to win?

Dillian Whyte 2/5

Dereck Chisora 5/2

Draw 20/1

Round five: Takam finally lands something significant and follows it up with a combination but Gashi shows his chin and doesn't budge.

Midway through the land Gashi let his hand go and things have finally livened up! Takam is there for the taking, throwing big punches which leave him wide open.

What a round! Keep that up and we've got a fight. I'd give that a 10-10.

Gashi looks shattered after that, leaning on the ropes before taking a seat. Will that have a say on the rest of the fight?

Adam Hamdani22 December 2018 20:13

Look who's arrived!

Scouting out his potential opponent on April 13th?

Round six: Takam landed some serious, serious shots in that round. The right hands made Gashi step back and almost take a moment. He looks to his corner and wants some reassurance, the body and head shots are taking their toll now.

Fair play to Gashi though, he can take a punch or seventeen.

Adam Hamdani22 December 2018 20:16

You wouldn't want to take one of those, would you?

Round seven: TAKAM WINS!

Adam Hamdani22 December 2018 20:19

The power told there and Takam lands a couple of big, big knockdowns. Gashi was brave but ultimately not good enough.

Three knockdowns with a minute of the round still to go, the final one coming from a big left hook after a nice uppercut before the referee finally waved the fight off.

At 38 years old, it may be too late for Takam to get back to the levels of taking on world level fighters again, but he's certainly kept himself in eye shot of Eddie Hearn, who seems to have taken a liking to him.

Carlos Takam

He was amazing. I was waiting for the sixth, seventh round to attack again. I don't know who's going to win [Whyte-Chisora] but I say good luck to both. I like the UK, the public. I love to box here, this is my home now.

Waved off.
