From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Anthony Joshua suffered the first defeat of his career in one of heavyweight boxing's biggest upsets as short-term replacement Andy Ruiz Jr knocked him down four times before claiming a seventh-round TKO victory.

In what completely shakes up the heavyweight scene, Joshua loses the WBA, WBO and IBF titles that almost certainly ends his chances of facing either Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder in the near future, and jettisons Ruiz onto the biggest stage of them all.

Joshua looked to be on course for a simple victory when he knocked Ruiz down in the third, but the Mexican-American responded by knocking Joshua down twice in the same round, before adding another two knockdowns in the seventh round when the fight was waved off. Relive all the action.

Joshua Buatsi

I have to thank God. I have to go home and watch it. He was slippery, it's boxing. In my humble opinion, there's only one winner there [Joshua vs Ruiz].

A float before Kelly's fight against Robinson.

Austin Williams takes on Quadeer Jenkins.

Adam Hamdani1 June 2019 23:59

This bout is a four rounder.

Williams with a record of one fight, one win. Jenkins one fight, one loss.

Austin Williams vs Quadeer Jenkins round one:

Fight over. Two knockdowns and Williams' punch output was simply too much for Jenkins to handle.

Williams will be fun to watch in the middleweight division over the years.

It's Josh Kelly time.

He'll be looking to make a statement after a fairly disappointing performance in late April against Przemyslaw Runowski.

Austin Williams impressed tonight.

Both men are in the ring!

Josh Kelly vs Austin Williams up next.

Josh Kelly vs Ray Robinson round one:

Nothing really in that round, as usual Kelly waits for his opponent to step forward and throw first but Robinson's reluctance to do so means both men spent the majority of the round standing each other up.
