Democrats are attempting to gain control of the US House and Senate in the wake of a contentious, partisan battle over the newly-confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
There are several state and local races of importance, too, as the parties square off for control of state legislatures and local city councils.

Election analyst Kyle Kondik said Thursday health care is one of the primary issues driving voters to the polls in the upcoming November elections.
"Health care generally is higher up, and it ranks higher for Democrats than for Republicans," Mr Kondik told Hill.TV. “"The one particular piece of that, you're starting to see this in the Senate races, in particular, is this pre-existing conditions issue because Democrats see it as a way to attack Republicans, and say, 'Hey, Republicans are trying to take away these pre-existing conditions protections.' Republicans are aggressively fighting back against it.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden predicted the Democratic Party would win 40 House seats and win back the US Senate, saying, “President Trump is the only president who when things are going very well for the economy, his numbers aren’t going up.”
He added, "What's holding him down is this battle for the soul. Who are we? You're seeing that played out."
