Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana: Bookies favourites to be the royal baby's godparents aren't who you think they are
Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton are further down the line than you might expect. Or care about.
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Just when you thought (hoped) there couldn’t possibly be anything left to gamble on regarding the second royal baby, along comes the odds on who the godparents are most likely to me.
And no, David and Victoria Beckham remain unlikely choices.
According to new figures released by bookmakers Ladbrokes, Princess Beatrice is the most popular person to take up the title when Princess Charlotte is christened, closely followed by her sister Eugenie in second place.
Princess Anne's son Peter Phillips and Prince William's close friend Hugh van Cutsem make up third and fourth place, while Prince Harry lies in fifth.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s two siblings, Pippa and James Middleton, only come in at sixth and seventh.
A report on the Mail Online speculates that Pippa isn’t being considered for the role because of her career hopes across the pond in the US.
In other royal news you probably care less about than Kylie Jenner’s lips, the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge were seen leaving Kensington Palace to travel to their humble 10-bedroom mansion Anmer Hall in Norfolk to begin family life in the country.
They were seen leaving the London residence in a black Range Rover and apparently arrived at the estate at 3.40pm. You’re welcome.
Meanwhile, a Japanese zoo has reportedly apologised for naming a baby monkey Charlotte in honour of the second royal baby. Keepers apparently received a number of complaint about the monicker.
