Katy Perry accepted the Forbes cover 'because there is no shame in being a boss'
The singer wants women to be comfortable celebrating their financial success

Katy Perry is using her Forbes cover to urge women to celebrate their achievements because “there is no shame in being a boss”.
Perry was ranked the third highest paid superstar of 2015, earning a staggering $135 million (£86 million). Having amassed such a vast fortune – more than that earned by Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus combined - the singer was invited to appear on the magazine’s cover.
Before accepting the offer, Perry said she was surprised to learn that a lot of women have previously declined to appear on the front and suggested this may be because it could be perceived as "bragging" about their financial success.
In an Instagram post on the subject, Perry urged her female counterparts to be proud of their acheivements.
“I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn't a humble decision," wrote Perry.
“Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labour blossom, and your dreams realised.
“Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it's okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss.”
As an afterthought, she added: “Also... don't think that I didn't celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme.”
