From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Cyrus, 22, perhaps best known for her controversial performances, said: "I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn't involve an animal and everyone is of age.
“Everything that's legal, I'm down with,” she told Paper Magazine.
The singer is currently promoting a new initiative, the Happy Hippie Foundation, aimed at raising awareness for homeless and LGBT young people.
In the interview with the magazine she recounts how she realised her own feelings towards women and told her mother.
"I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys”.
She mentioned her mother initially found it "hard to understand."
"She didn't want me to be judged and she didn't want me to go to hell," Cyrus said. "I just asked her to accept me. And she has."
The singer, who has been linked to a number of high profile singers and actors, added: "I don't relate to being boy or girl, and I don't have to have my partner relate to boy or girl."
