With the Duchess of Sussex due to give birth in the coming weeks, speculation is growing as to when the royal baby will arrive.

In October, Kensington Palace announced that the duchess is due to give birth this spring.

Some are under the impression the duchess will give birth around late April or early May, as she hinted during a visit to Birkenhead, Merseyside in January.

However, others believe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may welcome their first child any day.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has revealed its predictions for Markle's due date, with the greatest odds indicating that we may still have a couple more weeks to wait before the birth.

According to the organisation, the greatest likelihood is that the duchess will give birth the week commencing Monday 22 April, the odds of which are 2-1.

The odds of Markle giving birth the following week during the week of Monday 29 April are 3-1, while the odds of the royal baby arriving the week of Monday 6 May drop to 6-1.

The odds of the duchess giving birth this week are currently at 5-1 of that happening.

This week also marks the launch of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's official Instagram account, which was announced today by Kensington Palace.

Meanwhile, the smallest due date odds listed by the bookmaker are that of the week of Monday 13 May, which are at 8-1.

If the royal baby is born on Sunday 21 April, then the newest member of the royal family will share their birthday with a particularly significant relative: their great-grandmother, the Queen.

This occurrence has 7-1 odds of happening, Paddy Power states.

A spokesperson for the bookmaker says that if any royal fans are planning on camping outside the Lindo Wing, where it's suspected Markle may give birth, then they may have "a long wait yet".

In addition to the royal baby's due date, Paddy Power also revealed its predictions for the baby's name.

The bookmaker's favourite name for the baby, should it be a girl, is currently Diana, with 3-1 odds.

On the other hand, there are 7-1 odds of the baby being called Grace, and 13-1 odds of the baby taking after its paternal grandfather with the name Charles.

Many are also wondering whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have a boy or a girl, a detail the royal couple will keep under wraps until after the birth.

According to London-based bookmaker William Hill, there are greater odds that the duchess will have a girl than a boy.

William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams revealed to The Independent that an individual recently placed £500 on the royal baby being a girl.
