The Duchess of Sussex’s due date is fast approaching and bets are flying in as people make speculations over every last detail, from whether it will have a royal title to what its surname will be.

As for its sex, the bookies are currently suggesting that Meghan Markle will give birth to a girl, with odds of 4-7 according to online bookmaker BetVictor.

The odds on the royal baby being a boy are currently 5-4.

Of course, the royal baby’s sex isn’t the only thing people are placing bets on.

Many have gambled their money away by betting on the name.

According to recent odds from BetVictor, taking the top spot at the moment is Diana at 6-1, which would be in tribute to Prince Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

This is followed by Philip in second place at 10-1 and Alice, Arthur, James and Victoria tied for third at 12-1.

Other bets being taken by BetVictor include the baby’s weight, with 8lbs-8lbs 15oz as the most favoured at 7-4.

Meanwhile, the day of the week for the birth currently stands at 11-2, while both AM and PM deliveries are at 10-11 with odds of 22-1 available for each of the 24 hours of the day.

BetVictor’s figures come just days after London-based bookmaker William Hill revealed that its odds on the royal baby’s gender are also closing in with odds of 4-6 for a girl and 11-10 for a boy.

William Hill’s bets on the royal baby being a boy are currently 11-10, while BetVictor’s stand at 5-4.

Speaking to The Independent, William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams explained that the average bet for a royal baby name would normally be £1.50.

However, Adams revealed that a few weeks ago someone bet £500 on the royal baby being a girl, and the bets have been rushing in at similarly high prices ever since.

Today, William Hill has even reduced its price for bets placed on the royal baby being a girl due to a “flood” of new bets overnight.

“Amazingly 88 per cent of the cash on this market has been for a girl,” Adams adds. “In the past gamble such as these are rarely wrong.”
