Meghan Markle has reportedly confirmed the due date for the royal baby.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Birkenhead, Wirral, today as part of their first joint official engagement of the year.

Upon their arrival in Merseyside – where they are expected to visit a number of local organisations – the couple undertook a royal walkabout among the large crowds.

And it was here that Markle reportedly confirmed just how far along her pregnancy is.

According to several royal reporters, including ITV’s Chris Ship, Markle told a women in the crowd that she is six months pregnant and expecting to give birth this coming April.

“For those who want to know about these things: Meghan told one lady in the crowd that she is six months pregnant and another woman that her due date is around April,” he wrote on Twitter.

Emily Nash, royal editor at Hello!, also confirmed the news writing: “Meghan has told wellwishers in Birkenhead that she is six months pregnant – due end of April/beginning of May! Lots of baby chat today!”

But, there’s more news.

According to Rebecca English, royal correspondent at the Daily Mail, Markle also revealed she doesn’t know the gender of their baby.

“But Meghan said she didn’t know whether they were having a boy or a girl. She said she wants it to be a surprise!” Nash wrote on Twitter.

While Kensington Palace previously confirmed that the Duchess is due in Spring 2019, this is the closest royal fans have got to a confirmation of her due date.

It has also been reported that Markle is considering Frimley Park hospital in Surrey for her delivery, which would be a huge departure from St. Mary’s Hospital in London, where Kate Middleton and Princess Diana delivered their children.

During their trip to Merseyside, the couple have visited a number of locations including a statue erected to mark the 100th anniversary of war poet Wilfred Owen’s death, Together Women Wirral – an organisation that supports women in vulnerable circumstances- and a supermarket and community café.
