From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The world’s 32 best Fifa players have gathered in London to play for the chance to be crowned world champion at the 2019 Fifa eWorld Cup.
Alongside the trophy and bragging rights, the winner will also take home a $250,000 (£210,000) grand prize.
The tournament takes place over three days at the O2 in London, from 2-4 August, with 16 of the players on Playstation and 16 on Xbox. The best of each stream will meet in the final, for a two-legged match to decide the world champion.
Those taking part are the best of the best when it comes to Fifa, meaning any of the players has a legitimate chance of taking home the winner’s trophy.

The match has slowed down a bit now, with a lot of pressure on both players.
End of first half. 1-1.
It's looking very close here. Nobody is the decisive winner of that half at all.
We have a pause here at 60'. Both players trying to find their way into the lead. Both failing, so far...
After a spicy first 25 minutes or so, this game has got very cagey. Both players are getting stuck in midfield and don't seem to know how to find their way through.
Quite a few mistakes coming from both of the players here, uncharacteristically...
Just a few minutes left in this game. Still nothing between them and still no sign that's going to change.
Full time in the first leg. 1-1.
What a thriller. MoAuba will be absolutely thrilled with what's happened there: the match was very, very close, but it was the German who had the most exciting moments, and he is playing on his unfamiliar console.
Still could very much go either way here.
Just a bit of a break here as Wilfried Zaha is interviewed. He says how impressed he is by the quality of the players (though seems mostly impressed that they can play so ably on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox – which as a Fifa-on-Xbox ultra, I can very much identify with).
