Hamilton got away much better than Mercedes teammate and pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas, who went into Turn One alongside Hamilton and the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel. With Vettel pushed wide, Max Verstappen was able to slide through and take third, with the Red Bull driver remaining rather unchallenged for the rest of the Grand Prix.
A late safety car bunched the field up after Lando Norris and Lance Stroll crashed at Turn Two, taking both drivers out of the race as the only retirements of the Grand Prix. However, Hamilton powered away at the restart and claimed the extra point for fastest lap on his way to victory. Re-live the live updates below.

Lap 44: Verstappen pits for the second time after claiming on the team radio that there's "No way Leclerc is not stopping again" even though he doesn't have to, such is the tyre wear. Verstappen gets a clean stop and comes out on the medium tyres, behind Leclerc but ahead of Vettel - who is the fastest man on the track by a country mile.
Lap 45: Well this just got interesting. A slow-mo replay shows Hamilton's right-rear has a major blister on it, so much so that it's starting to delaminate and spit chunks of rubber off it. He gets the call that they will pit again, and the question is does Bottas need to pit?
Lap 46: The answer is yes. Bottas pits at the end of the lap, just as Norris and Stroll crash! Surely this is a safety car, and it is!
Lap 47: Hamilton pits at the end of the lap along with Charles Leclerc, who swaps the hards for the mediums, and the latter comes out behind teammate Vettel to lose position. Hamilton meanwhile holds onto the lead, but he will have Bottas right behind him when we restart.
The safety car was definintely needed, as Norris had attempted to pass Stroll on the outside of Turn One and as a result, they hit on the apex of Turn Two that fired Stroll into the tyre wall and Norris out of the race too. There's lots of gravel on the track as Norris attempted to continue, driving his McLaren across the track and dumping debris everywhere.
Lap 49:
1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Verstappen
4. Vettel
5. Leclerc
6. Gasly
7. Grosjean
8. Magnussen
9. Kvyat
10. Sainz
Lap 50: With the safety car now bunching the field up, marshals can now clear the track and sweep off the gravel that is on. Hamilton has Kvyat, Sainz, Albon, Hulkenberg, Ricciardo and Perez between him and Bottas, who has Verstappen right behind him, while there's a Williams between the Red Bull and the two Ferraris. The backmarkers will be released, and the call comes from the FIA that now they can overtake, but this could take some time.
Lap 53: GREEN! GREEN! GREEN! We're back racing with 14 laps remaining.
Lap 53: Hamilton gets the perfect restart and powers away. Behind it's relatively clam, but Leclerc has been caught napping and Gasly has a run at him. Leclerc just holds on to fifth, but behind Magnussed gets past Haas teammate Grosjean and pushes him out wide at Turn One. Leclerc pushes out Gasly and that allows Magnussen to have a run at Gasly, but despite running neck and neck the Red Bull just holds on.
