Lewis Hamilton took his second consecutive victory to seize the world championship lead after a perfect performance in winning the Chinese Grand Prix.

In what was Formula One's 1,000th race in history, Hamilton beat Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas off the line into turn one, and never looked back. Behind, Bottas was able to hold off the Ferraris with ease, given their intra-team battle that threatens to boil over. Ferrari used early team orders to release Sebastian Vettel, gifting him third place but infuriating Charles Leclerc.

And subsequently, Leclerc lost fourth place to Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with the fallout from Ferrari's decision set to rumble on to the next race in Baku. Re-live the live updates below.

What time does it start?

The Chinese Grand Prix begins at 7:10am BST on Sunday 14 April.

Where can I watch it?

The race will be shown live on Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event. Highlights will be shown on Channel 4 from 3pm.

Lap 42: Leclerc is still out on those wrecked tyres, and Vettel passes him with ease into the final hairpin to re-take third. Now Leclerc pits, and the battle with Verstappen now begins.

Lap 43: It's a slow getaway for Leclerc as it bogs down, but he comes out on the brand news mediums in fifth. The gap is 14.9s with 13 laps remaining, so he's going to need more than a second a lap on the Red Bull to catch fourth place. That's...a lot.

Lap 45: Bit of a retirement update, as Kvyat has been wheeled into the Toro Rosso garage after a bit of a nightmare day. Meanwhile, Hulkenberg's retirement is unknown after the German reported an incident.

Lap 46: How's Leclerc getting on? Well he's taken two seconds out of the gap in two laps, so while it's good, it's not quite enough to guarantee he'll get past him. This could very much prove to be a final-lap shootout, but will Verstappen's tyres start to fall away to help the Ferrari man's cause?

As he passes the line the gap is 12.4s with 10 laps remaining.

Lap 48: Eight laps to go and Leclerc is still 11.5s behind. He needs a cliff here to catch the Red Bull. Strangely, Hamilton asks if Bottas is under pressure, and with 4.4s between second and third-placed Vettel, maybe he wants to slow the pace a little?

Jack de Menezes14 April 2019 08:33

Lap 51: Leclerc's hopes of fourth are going up in smoke here as he reports a problem with the gearbox. Surely not again, what does he need to do to get some luck?

Jack de Menezes14 April 2019 08:37

Lap 52: Ferrari try to ease Leclerc's fears by claiming the gearbox is fine, so maybe that's just a few of his frustrations creeping out there. Three laps to go.

Lap 54: Red Bull pit Gasly from sixth, where he'll remain, and that looks like a shot at the fastest lap on the final lap. Leclerc meanwhile is 5.2s off Verstappen and out of the battle for fourth.

Jack de Menezes14 April 2019 08:42

Lap 55: Meanwhile, Albon and Grosjean are battling furiously for the final points-paying position of 10th. Can the Toro Rosso youngster hold on? He deserves to.

Jack de Menezes14 April 2019 08:43

Lap 56: Hamilton starts the final lap...6.7 seconds ahead of Mercedes teammate Bottas.
