In what was Formula One's 1,000th race in history, Hamilton beat Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas off the line into turn one, and never looked back. Behind, Bottas was able to hold off the Ferraris with ease, given their intra-team battle that threatens to boil over. Ferrari used early team orders to release Sebastian Vettel, gifting him third place but infuriating Charles Leclerc.
And subsequently, Leclerc lost fourth place to Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with the fallout from Ferrari's decision set to rumble on to the next race in Baku. Re-live the live updates below.

Lap 8: Race positions
1. Hamilton
2. Bottas +3.0
3. Leclerc +6.0
4. Vettel +7.0
5. Verstappen +9.1
6. Gasly +15.0
7. Ricciardo _20.0
8. Perez +22.3
9. Hulkenberg +25.3
10. Raikkonen +26.2
Lap 9: Vettel gets the call to get closer to Leclerc - you imagine that's the response to his calls that he's faster than his teammate and wants to be allowed past to hunt down the Mercedes who are starting to disappear a bit.
Lap 10: There's a few signs of team orders appearing here as the first call comes to Leclerc:
Ferrari: "You need to go faster otherwise we'll have to let Sebastian past"
Leclerc: "Yep no problem"
Ferrari: "Let Sebastian by. Let Sebastian by.
Lap 11: And there it is! Leclerc eases off into Turn One and Vettel sweeps inside him to take third place. However, the changeover has allowed Verstappen to catch them slightly, and he's just two seconds off the back of the second Ferrari. The mid-field are already pitting with Grosjean and Hulkenberg already in and out, but who will blink first out front? The smart money is on Verstappen.
Lap 14: Vettel is not pulling away from Leclerc and the Monogasque is fuming with having to let him past, claiming it's wrecked his race already. To make matters worse, Vettel has had huge lock-ups twice within two laps, and the gap to Bottas in second is already nearly seven seconds. This is not working out for Ferrari.
Lap 15: Yet another lock-up from Vettel into the Turn Six hairpin and Leclerc again radios in complaining. Ferrari have a big problem on their hands here as the tyres are not working for the German, and now Ferrari are thinking about switching them back! This is all very amateur here from F1's most successful team...
Lap 17: We have our first retirement of the race and it's for Renault as Nico Hulkenberg comes into the pits and is wheeled backwards into the garage. It's yet another engine failure, and the French team have endured a nightmare start to the season so far.
Lap 18: Verstappen pits! Here we go folks, Red Bull are putting the pressure on Ferrari as they fit the hard tyres to Verstappen's car and get him out crucially just in front of Raikkonen. Will Ferrari respond?
Lap 19: Ferrari respond, and it's Vettel! Where will he filter out? It's ahead of Verstappen, but Leclerc looks like a sitting duck here.
McLaren meanwhile pit Norris again as he had front wing damage, and his emergence ahead of Vettel has allowed Verstappen onto the gearbox of Vettel! Surely he's going to get Leclerc.
