Why trust our Cyber Monday deals
At The Independent, we’ve been covering Black Friday and Cyber Monday for years, with a team of expert reviewers dedicated to finding the best deals on products we’ve tested and trust. We only recommend items from brands and retailers we know deliver on quality and service, so you can shop with confidence knowing every deal has been thoroughly vetted and given our stamp of approval.
I’ve personally been tracking and sniffing out the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings for readers ever since 2017, so I know the difference between a genuinely good deal and a dud. Rest assured, you’re in safe hands.
What is Cyber Monday, and are the deals still good?
Before I get started, I thought I’d start off with a little 101 on why it’s even called Cyber Monday anyway, and whether deals are better today than they were yesterday on Black Friday weekend.
Initially, Cyber Monday was all about online-only deals. Coined in 2005 in the US, it marked the day when in-store Black Friday discounts transitioned to the web. Back in those days of dial-up, many shoppers would wait until Monday to shop online from work – where internet connections were faster!
The lines between the two sales have blurred since then, and now Cyber Monday is just an extension of Black Friday – the last hurrah before the deals come crashing to a sorrowful end. The deals won’t be better or worse than they were over Black Friday, so you don’t need to worry about shopping the sales – just head to the checkout before midnight and you’ll be good.
Cyber Monday has landed
Good morning shoppers, and happy Cyber Monday! Today marks the final stretch of the biggest sales event of the year, and your last opportunity to snap up some all-time low Black Friday bargains before retailers pull their discounts. If you’ve been holding off or still have items on your wishlist, now’s the time to start checking out.
I’m The Independent’s tech writer and I’ll be taking over from Daisy for this final stretch of the Black Friday sales. Hot Cyber Monday deals, coming right up.

Antler is offering 30% off site wide for Cyber Weekend
Luggage brand Antler has a great deal running this Black Friday, with 30 per cent off sitewide. Marrying style and practicality, the suitcase brand is a firm favourite among frequent travellers.
Antler soft stripe cabin suitcase: Was £170, now £119, Antler.co.uk
Our shopping expert Tamara gave this suitcase the top spot in her review, finding the soft stripe cabin case to be a tardis on wheels with a surprising amount of space. “This suitcase does it all – it’s got a low weight but still has the added extras that are often skipped by brands trying to create feather-light luggage,” Tamara wrote.
The Kindle paperwhite is at its lowest ever price
Bookworms, you can get the Kindle at its cheapest-ever price right now. From saving you space in your suitcase to helping you read with ease on the busy commute, trust me, a Kindle is stellar investment.

Considered the best ereader in our review, The Independent’s tech critic David Phelan praised the device for being “really exceptional (gaining the top spot in this round-up)”. He added: “The front light has also been improved recently, to make it subtler and adjustable in terms of warmth as well as brightness. Like the oasis, the paperwhite is waterproof – it’s able to withstand submersion in 2m of water for up to an hour.”

“If you’re looking for a sleep tracker, activity tracker or just want to know as much as you can about your body, then the gen 3 Oura ring will tick a lot of your boxes, in one tiny package,” Kat said in her review of the fitness device. With six different coloured rings available (from silver to gold), it’s a more stylish choice than a Fitbit or Garmin. When Kat tested the device out, she was impressed with its battery life and sleep insights, as well as fertility and period tracking. Right now, you can save £50, thanks to John Lewis.
