Your support makes all the difference.The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards aired on Monday (15 January) following a four-month delay, with the best talent in television gathering in Los Angeles for a shimmering ceremony.
The annual celebration of the year’s most brilliant TV shows took place half a year after nominations were announced back in July.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for September but was pushed back due to the Hollywood writer and actor strikes that brought the industry to a standstill last year. As such, these awards honoured shows that aired between 1 June 2022 and 31 May 2023, meaning it felt a bit like deja vu.
The show with the most nominations was Succession, the fourth and final season of which aired on HBO last year. The drama took home six awards. Fellow HBO dramas The Last of Us and The White Lotus were also heavily nominated, but failed to compete in terms of wins on the night.
Netflix’s limited series Beef and Hulu’s comedy The Bear also saw a raft of big wins at the ceremony.

How to watch the 2024 Emmy Awards
The nominations for the annual television awards ceremony were announced on 12 July last year; however, due to the Hollywood writers and actors strikes, the Emmys were pushed back from their original 18 September slot.

Nick Offerman wins first Emmy ahead of main ceremony
Several Emmy categories will be left out of the bigger ceremony on Sunday, including Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, which was awarded to Nick Offerman at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. He won the category for his beautiful standalone episode in The Last of Us.
Jenna Ortega competes as the youngest Latina actor to be nominated
Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega, 21, will compete as the youngest Latina to ever receive an acting Emmy nod. She has been nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category against fellow nominees Dead to Me’s Christina Applegate, Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan and Poker Face’s Natasha Lyonne.

Biggest Emmy snubs
When the nominees for the 75th Emmy Awards were announced last July, there were a handful of worthy actors and shows that didn’t make the list, most notably Taylor Sheridan’s wildly popular cowboy drama Yellowstone was once again put out to pasture.
Netflix’s bombshell Harry & Meghan docuseries was also a notable abdication from the nominees. The Academy clearly did not agree with The Independent’s Jessie Thompson, who called the six-parter “intimate, self-aggrandising, and wildly entertaining” in her four-star review.

ESPN Emmy Award scandal
The popular sports network ESPN has apologised after it was found out that some of the names submitted in categories, dating back to 1997, were fake.
“Some members of our team were clearly wrong in submitting certain names that may go back to 1997 in Emmy categories where they were not eligible for recognition or statuettes,” the network said in a statement, according to the AP.
This scandal was first brought to light by The Athletic, which reported that College GameDay on-air personalities such as Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard were honoured with awards they were ineligible for. There has been no evidence to suggest that the winners knew what was going on.
