Tina Turner death – latest: Legendary singer’s cause of death revealed after she dies aged 83

In 1995, Tina Turner recorded one of her best-known songs, the titular theme for GoldenEye, Pierce Brosnan’s first outing as 007 agent Bond.

However, Turner very nearly wasn’t the voice of “GoldenEye”, after originally dismissing a “really rough” demo sent to her by the track’s songwriters, U2’s Bono and The Edge.

In 1993, Tina Turner relocated to Switzerland with her longtime partner, music producer Erwin Bach.

She later renounced her US citizenship in favour of Swiss nationality, shortly after her marriage to Bach in 2013.

Tina Turner had four children and is survived by two.

Her eldest, Craig Turner, whom she shared with saxophonist Raymond Hill, died of suicide in 2018 at age 59.

She shared one biological son, Ronnie Turner, with ex-husband Ike Turner. Ronnie died in December 2022, aged 62, months before Turner’s death.

The “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer is survived by Ike’s two sons, both of whom she adopted: Ike Jr, 65, and Michael, 65.

On Wednesday (24 May), it was announced that Tina Turner had “peacefully” died after a long illness.

While the illness was not specifically identified, the Queen of Rock’N’ Roll had struggled with several illnesses in recent years. In 2013 she suffered from a stroke, in 2016 she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and in 2017 she received a kidney transplant.

“A true icon who will be sorely missed,” Irish cellist Patrick Dexter wrote, alongside a beautiful cello cover of Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It”.
