From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Late Late Show host duetted on a version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" - the song made famous by Sinead O'Connor in 1990 - with frontman Chris Martin.
Upon taking to the stage, the usually confident host expressed his nerves about performing at the stadium which has a capacity of over 95,000 people.
"I'll be honest, I didn't know how big it was when I said, 'yes'," he joked.
Following the performance, Martin presented Corden with a cake in celebration of his 38th birthday yesterday (22 August).
Corden's tenure as US chatshow host has been bolstered by the extremely popular Carpool Karaoke segment. His guests have included One Direction, Jennifer Lopez and Adele. It's proved so popular that it's to get its own Apple Music spin-off show.
Corden will next share a car ride with Britney Spears.
