From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Britney Spears will be jumping into the front seat for a spin with James Corden in an upcoming Carpool Karaoke.

The “Make Me” singer is the latest big name to take part in the British comedian’s hugely popular Late Late Show sketch, which sees him drive celebrities around in his car as they chat and sing along to the radio.

She shared the excited news with fans by tweeting a photo of herself standing in front of the Carpool Karaoke car with Corden, with a caption announcing that the skit will air on 25 August.

Britney’s new album Glory is set for release on 26 August, the day after her Carpool Karaoke appearance and will feature her new song “Clumsy”. The 34-year-old will also be continuing her Piece of Me residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

It was recently announced that Carpool Karaoke will be getting its own spinoff series on Apple Music, after Corden’s videos passed a massive 830 million views on YouTube.

Past viral episodes have seen the likes of Justin Bieber, Chris Martin, Stevie Wonder, One Direction and most recently, First Lady Michelle Obama, go for a drive with the British comedian.

Highlights have included Jennifer Lopez texting Leonardo DiCaprio from her phone, Obama grooving to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and Adele rapping to Nicki Minaj.

Corden has revealed that his dream co-rider is Beyonce, whose appearance he claims would “break the internet”, but unfortunately she is busy on her world tour.

Rapper Kanye West is also on the ‘must-have’ list but keeps bailing on scheduled appearances before sending Corden dozens of roses to apologise.
