Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The nominees for the 75th Golden Globe Awards are being announced today from 5.15AM PT / 1.15PM GMT at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Alfre Woodard (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Lemony Snickets: A Series of Unfortunate Events), Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound), Kristen Bell (The Good Place) and Sharon Stone (most recently The Disaster Artist) will read out those vying for awards, which - along with being great accolades in and of them themselves - serve as a good prediction for the Academy Awards.
The nominations announcement will be live streamed on the Golden Globes Facebook Page and at GoldenGlobes.com - we'll have every category covered in here and provide some context for the nominees.

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 7 January with Seth Meyers hosting.
We're here and ready to go for 1.15pm GMT, following a busy weekend for film recognition, with several critics groups naming their Best Picture:
San Francisco Film Critics Circle: The Florida Project
New York Film Critics Online: The Florida Project, Mudbound
Boston Society of Film Critics: Phantom Thread
Toronto Film Critics Association: The Florida Project
A lot of love for Sean Baker's The Florida Project, which centres on a low-income family living just outside Disneyland, then, though the field is wide open this year.
Other movies being tipped for success include:
Lady Bird
Get Out
Dunkirk
Phantom Thread
The Post
Blade Runner 2049
It's certainly not going to be one of those awards seasons where one film picks up almost everything, like with La La Land in 2017.
Time to set your alarm! The Nominations for the 75th Golden Globe Awards will be announced tomorrow, Monday, December 11, at 5:15amPST/8:15amEST live here on Facebook and on our website www.goldenglobes.com.
Call Me By Your Name deserves to be recognised. Here's hoping Timothée Chalamet (who was also great in Lady Bird) gets a nod
TV-wise, the drama category should be relatively straightforward, the frontrunner being The Handmaid’s Tale.
Four-time Golden Globe nominee Game of Thrones will also likely make an appearance, while last year's winner The Crown should also get a nomination. Stranger Things - which was also up for the award last year - will likely make an appearance.
The only foreseeable shock could be Mindhunter managing to break through, or perhaps Mr. Robot, the third series of which has been highly acclaimed.
With Atlanta’s second season delayed until next year and Transparent likely out of contention following allegations against leading actor Jeffrey Tambor, the best TV comedy award nominations should be more interesting than the drama.
The majority of chatter has revolved around Better Things, while Master of None could also make an appearance after a stellar second season. Black-ish — which was nominated last year — could be nominated two years running, while long-awaited returns from Curb Your Enthusiasm and Will & Grace could grab nominations.
