Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The nominees for the 75th Golden Globe Awards are being announced today from 5.15AM PT / 1.15PM GMT at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Alfre Woodard (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Lemony Snickets: A Series of Unfortunate Events), Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound), Kristen Bell (The Good Place) and Sharon Stone (most recently The Disaster Artist) will read out those vying for awards, which - along with being great accolades in and of them themselves - serve as a good prediction for the Academy Awards.

The nominations announcement will be live streamed on the Golden Globes Facebook Page and at GoldenGlobes.com - we'll have every category covered in here and provide some context for the nominees.

For Best Limited Series or Television Movie, everyone expects Big Little Lies and Twin Peaks: The Return to dominate.

Netflix's Godless could also make an appearance, as could the BBC's Top of the Lake: China Girl.

Last year, the prestigious 2018 Cecil B. DeMille life achievement award went to Meryl Streep. TIME reveal the three frontrunners for the award this year are Julie Andrews, Tom Hanks and Jessica Lange.

Streep, of course, made an incredible speech last year, hitting out at President Donald Trump. Read below.

This year's best musical/comedy film seems like a fairly straight forward affair. Almost guaranteed to feature are Get Out, The Big Sick, and Lady Bird, while James Franco's The Disaster Artist will also likely take a spot.

The final place could very well go to Margot Robbie's I, Tonya or perhaps Baby Driver. Girls Trip and The Meyerowitz Stories could also make the list.

We're just a few minutes away from the announcement starting now, at a heinously early hour for the west coast.
