David Cameron’s barber has been given an MBE!
I never realised there was a gong for services to hairdressing but Lino Carbosiero’s scissor skills have won him recognition in the New Year’s Honours List.
Those who think an MBE a bit generous in terms of a tip should first read the report by the London Evening Standard’s Londoner’s Diary team, which went down to Carbosiero’s salon to find out more about the celebrity crimper (who also serves Britain by being the coiffeur of choice to Ant & Dec).
“I have been in situations where people have talked about things and I’ve not blinked an eyelid. I don’t blab and I’m respected for it,” he said.
Aside from pending holiday arrangements, it’s difficult to imagine what indiscretions the Prime Minister might disclose when having his wash and blow dry but his secrets are safe with Lino.
The PM’s haircut is an important business. In 2007 Mr Cameron switched his parting to the left, prompting a frenzy of comment about his supposed “metrosexuality” and liberal leanings. More recently he has adopted a “side sweep”, a style favoured by the likes of David Beckham and singer Gary Barlow.
For Lino Carbosiero’s role in all of this, the nation is no doubt deeply grateful.
