Tyre Nichols protest in LA sees firework send police cruiser up in smoke

Protests have erupted across the US following the death of Tyre Nichols, who was beat by police officers in Memphis following a traffic stop.

In LA, police cars were vandalised, and fireworks set off - with one going up in smoke after being hit by an explosive.

Footage of the attack that left Nichols lifeless on the ground was released last night (28 January), with Memphis Police referring to it as “worse than Rodney King”.
