For the next two weeks, millions of rail passengers will find journeys across Britain difficult. They will be hit by a combination of Network Rail engineering work, strikes and nature.

UK airports will also be busy over the festive period, with millions of passengers expected to pass through on midwinter trips.

An incident at junction 13, near Egham, on the M25 has closed one lane of an exit slip road.

Highways England advises motorists "approach with caution".

Lines have now reopened following a fault with the signalling system between Hitchin and Royston. Trains between Hitchin and Cambridge may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes as normal service resumes, according to National Rail. Disruption is expected to continue until 2pm.
