From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Samsung unveiled a slew of new devices on Wednesday, including new phones, earbuds and smartwatches.

Most of the hardware had already been revealed in several major leaks ahead of Galaxy Unpacked 2020.

Regardless, the South Korean tech giant showed off the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7 tablet, Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Watch 3, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Samsung followed Apple, Huawei and OnePlus by holding the event virtually online, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New functionality means you don't need to lug around your smartphone when going for a run, as you can listen to music through the Galaxy Buds and track your workout from the Galaxy Watch.

They've gone to a lot of effort with that "gender neutral Mystic Bronze".

I'm still not quite sure what I make of it. I think I prefer the equally gender neutral classic white, black and silver aesthetic for my devices.

Samsung's "one more thing" is the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

The design is slimmer and the gap between the screens is smaller when it folds compared to its predecessor.

Samsung's research also showed that people use the front screen as much as the inside screens, so there's been a big upgrade for the front.

The problematic hinge has also been completely redesigned, so hopefully there's no issues there.

And the screen uses a type of glass that's thinner than a human hair, making the display ultra-flexible.

There are 60 components in the hinge, but Samsung promises they won't malfunction.

No word on release date or price but new details of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be announced in September.

So there we have it, the five new devices - and one new colour - to "help us navigate the next normal".

Pre-orders for all the devices - apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 2 - begin tomorrow, 6 August.
