From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Apple is about to launch the iPhone X. And there's only one way to be the first to see it.

There'll be a lot of firsts at the event – the first time Apple has released more than one kind of iPhone at once, and probably the first time the handset has broken through the $1,000 mark. But there'll be another first that's important for people watching at home: the first time that Apple will host an event at the Steve Jobs Theater, the huge underground complex that it has built at its brand new Apple Park, especially for such events.

We'll be blogging live – and you can find our coverage at the bottom of this article. But you might also want to watch along live, and instructions for that can be found below.

(If you'd like to get a head start, there have been more leaks than ever before this year. You can find all our coverage of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 here.)

The event will start at 10am in Apple's local pacific time. That's 1pm eastern, 6pm if you're in the UK, 7pm in most of Europe and 1am on Wednesday morning if you're in Hong Kong. Or, to put it more simply, here's exactly how long until the event kicks off:

The event is likely to last somewhere between an-hour-and-a-half and two hours. Given that Apple has a lot to announce – and given some of those products are so strange and expensive that it's going to need a lot of time to explain why – it'll probably be at the longer end of that.

To actually watch, on most devices, you can just just head to Apple's special events page. As ever, there are some restrictions: if you're on an iOS device, it'll need to be updated to at least iOS 9; if you're on a Mac you'll have to use Safari; and only Microsoft Edge users can watch on Windows.

The company is also running a livestream for the Apple TV. That comes in a special app – which has already gone onlineso if it's not showing for you already then make sure you're up to date before the event kicks off.
