Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Apple held its WWDC event on Monday, revealing updates for every one of its platforms.
As well as new versions of the operating systems for its iPhone, iPad, Macs, Apple Watch and TVs, the company also revealed major new changes including the introduction of entirely new chips for its Macs.
It is the 31st time that Apple has held the event. But it is the first ever time that it has been entirely virtual, conducted only through the internet.

Speaking of cars, we're moving on to CarPlay.
With iOS14 there's new Wallpaper options and a couple of other things that don't look that exciting.
What does look exciting is a new digital car key that can be stored on your iPhone. It uses NFC to unlock and start your car and can be shared between other people remotely.
It will only be available on the new 2021 BMW 5-Series.
Onto the App Store.
Something for the developers to get stuck into here, it's called App Clips. It's a small part of an app that automatically recognises things you might need access to, such as an electric scooter lying around on the street, making the associated app "immediately discoverable".
They can be launched with QR codes, NFC and a new symbol specific to Apple.
I'm not a big fan of this being pre-recorded. It might eliminate any chance of cock ups, but it makes it feel like one long commercial.
Apple has made big improvements to its handwriting recognition, as well as new ways to use the Apple Pencil to write in text fields. You can now write an email address in the url field by hand, for example.
Mary-Ann Ionascu explains how you can now "magically" switch between devices without having to manually choose whether you're connected to your iPad, iPhone and Mac.
New "Spatial Audio" looks incredible. It maps the content's soundscape to a person's motion, meaning you hear in the same way you would in a cinema.
