UFC 270 LIVE: Ngannou vs Gane fight results and latest updates
The UFC heavyweight title is on the line in the main event, while the men’s flyweight belt will also be contested
The first major UFC event of the year has arrived, with two massive title fights topping the card at UFC 270.
In the main event, an undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned as Francis Ngannou defends his belt against interim title holder Ciryl Gane. The opponents are former teammates, with the build-up to their clash tonight coloured by arguments over who had more success in their old sparring sessions. Ngannou is the most feared power-puncher in UFC history, the French-Cameroonian’s professional mixed martial arts record standing at 16-3 – while his UFC record is 11-2 since his debut in 2015, with 10 of those wins coming via knockout or TKO. Meanwhile, Frenchman Gane is undefeated at 10-0, having gone 3-0 in 2021 to claim the interim heavyweight title and establish himself as Ngannou’s first challenger.
In the co-main event in Anaheim, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo will complete a trilogy of flyweight title fights. The rivals drew in their initial meeting in December 2020, allowing Figueiredo to hang onto the belt, before Mexican Moreno submitted the Brazilian last June to take the gold.

Figueiredo has a body lock from behind and deals knees to Moreno’s quads against the fence.
Moreno once again separates well.
It’s another close round – less busy than the others, but still hard to call.

You’d think Moreno was the one with a power advantage given how his strikes have been affecting Figueiredo, though the latter obviously secured a knockdown late in the third round.
The Brazilian’s outside leg kicks are doing more and more damage.

Figueiredo’s outside leg kicks are starting to impact Moreno’s movement, but the champion clips the Brazilian with another lovely left hand.
Heavy left hands from both men, and a right from Figueiredo drops Moreno at the very end of the round!!

Moreno rushes in for a knee but is caught by Figueiredo, who pushes the champion to the mat and against the fence.
Moreno does so well to escape quickly, not for the first time tonight.
Both men appear to be hurting each other! Moreno is stunned by a punch and rolls away, but he clips Figueiredo soon after.
Again they trade stinging punches!

Nice body combinations from both men!
BIG right hand from Figueiredo, but Moreno fires back with a left hand that appears to slightly wobble the challenger!
Moreno defends another single-leg takedown.
Another close round, but this one is perhaps Moreno’s.

More cagey punching and kicking exchanges, before a scramble sees Moreno dart after Figueiredo on the mat!
The former champion is quick to get back to his feet, however.
Figueiredo catches Moreno’s leg and tries for a single-leg takedown, but to no avail.

He tries to take the back but Moreno escapes slickly!
Both men trade kicks, Figueiredo favouring the body but also landing a heavy outside low kick.
Moreno lands an inside leg kick that troubles Figueiredo. The Brazilian responds with two front kicks to the body.
Moreno ends a very close round with a nice combination of body punches.

It’s cagey here. Moreno separates and misses with a wide hook.
Figueiredo with a leg kick that momentarily floors the champion.
The pair trade jabs before Moreno appears to stun Figueiredo slightly with a right hand.

A touch of gloves and we’re under way.
Figueiredo misses with a leg kick. He misses again and is clipped with a jab.
The Brazilian falls and Moreno rushes after him. A clash of heads there seems not to have opened up any cuts.
Moreno has Figueiredo up against the fence, but the position is soon reversed.
