UFC 270 LIVE: Ngannou vs Gane fight results and latest updates
The UFC heavyweight title is on the line in the main event, while the men’s flyweight belt will also be contested
The first major UFC event of the year has arrived, with two massive title fights topping the card at UFC 270.
In the main event, an undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned as Francis Ngannou defends his belt against interim title holder Ciryl Gane. The opponents are former teammates, with the build-up to their clash tonight coloured by arguments over who had more success in their old sparring sessions. Ngannou is the most feared power-puncher in UFC history, the French-Cameroonian’s professional mixed martial arts record standing at 16-3 – while his UFC record is 11-2 since his debut in 2015, with 10 of those wins coming via knockout or TKO. Meanwhile, Frenchman Gane is undefeated at 10-0, having gone 3-0 in 2021 to claim the interim heavyweight title and establish himself as Ngannou’s first challenger.
In the co-main event in Anaheim, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo will complete a trilogy of flyweight title fights. The rivals drew in their initial meeting in December 2020, allowing Figueiredo to hang onto the belt, before Mexican Moreno submitted the Brazilian last June to take the gold.

No luck! Ngannou is on top again and happy to hold the position.

Indy Sport has Ngannou 3-1 up, but the first round was the closest.
Gane swings big but misses with a hook.
The interim champion then stuns Ngannou slightly with a one-two, however.
Gane grabs a single-leg and gets Ngannou down to the mat!

Gane gets back to his feet but is taken down again straight away!
Ngannou puts all his weight on Gane and holds him down.
Ngannou has Gane up against the fence now and fires off a few punches as a great round for the champion comes to an end.

Into the championship rounds.
Gane kicks low, chipping away at the champion. He lands a spinning back kick to the body, too.
Ngannou thrashes at Gane with a left hook but fails to land. Fierce front kick by Gane lands around the neck of Ngannou.
Another kick attempt by Gane is caught and Ngannou holds the interim champion, driving him to the fence then taking him down!

The former teammates grapple against the fence and Gane lands a spinning elbow as they separate! A trademark of his, almost.
Ngannou looks tired. He's breathing heavily, plodding, and his hands are low.
The men end up against the fence again, and Ngannou secures a great double-leg takedown after a hook to the body!
Gane looks for a Kimura straight away, but he can’t get the positioning right.
Big round for Ngannou.

Ngannou is in side control, not a position we've seen him in very often before...
Ngannou tries to get into mount but ends up taking the back and throwing some punches.
He fails to get hooks in but is still in control... but Gane stands! Impressive.

Ngannou presses forward, but Gane smartly circles into the centre of the Octagon.
Gane misses with a front kick and is SLAMMED to the mat by Ngannou!
The crowd reacts more positively to that! That was more power slam than takedown!

Spinning back kick to the body by Gane.
Ngannou presses forward and throws a heavy body kick with Gane’s back to the fence.
Gane comes forward but doesn’t throw anything. More boos.
