The women's quarter-finals are the main course at Wimbledon on Tuesday, but former men's champion Novak Djokovic is serving up a juicy appetiser on Centre Court, where fans were short-changed by player withdrawals a week ago.

Second seed Djokovic's fourth-round match against France's Adrian Mannarino was pushed back from Monday due to the epic five-setter that saw Gilles Muller defeat Rafa Nadal, in one of the biggest shocks of the championships.

The Serb will be first up on Centre Court, at midday, in a bonus event before the women's quarters. It comes exactly a week after ticketholders saw two successive matches on the same court finish in the second set as players retired hurt.

After the Djokovic battle, it will be all about the women's last eight on a day that is forecast to be cloudy with some showers, with the temperature hovering round 17 Celsius.

In a clash of tennis generations, five-times Wimbledon winner Venus Williams - at 37, the oldest player in more than two decades to reach the last eight - will go toe-to-toe with 20-year-old French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko.

Next up on Centre Court is second seed Simona Halep, who will become the first Romanian woman to reach world number one if she beats sixth seed Johanna Konta, the first British woman in the quarter-finals for 33 years.

On Court One, Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova goes up against Spain's Garbine Muguruza, who turfed out world number one Angelique Kerber on Monday. Wrapping up the women's quarter-finals, big-hitting American Coco Vandeweghe faces Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova.

Halep 3-0 Konta* (*denotes next server)

At 30-15 Halep sends a backhand lob long but she brings up game point with a huge serve-volley combo. She can't take it though as Konta forces her into a forehand error with some heavy hitting. At deuce Halep sends a backhand long to give the Briton a break point but that slips away as Konta misses her return. She misses her return again at deuce before Halep eventually seals the hold.

Halep 4-1 Konta* (*denotes next server)

Konta misses an easy forehand putaway but makes up for it with a sublime cross-court backhand winner to level the game up at 15-15. Halep sends down an unreturnable serve to win the next point but two huge returns in a row bring up a break point for Konta... but she can't take it as she snatches at a forehand return and hits the net. Back-to-back groundstroke errors from Konta hand the game to Halep.

Halep* 4-4 Konta (*denotes next server)

Konta hits a forehand long before a shanked backhand sees her fall 0-30 behind on her own serve. Halep then hits a backhand into the net before a Konta ace levels the game up. Another two huge unreturnable serves follow as Konta holds to 30.

Halep 7-6(2) Konta* (*denotes next server)

The first two points go with serve before Halep secures the mini break with a short angled backhand after an epic rally.

Halep wins the next point to go 3-1 up but a double fault follows as she relinquishes the mini break.

However, Konta hands the mini break back as she misses a drive forehand volley to go 4-2 down.

Halep outlasts Konta to win the next point before an inside-out forehand winner from the Romanian brings up four set points... and she needs just one as Konta sends a backhand well wide.

Halep* 7-6 0-1 Konta (*denotes next server)

A sloppy start to this second set as Konta misses an easy volley before sending a routine backhand wide. The Briton regroups to win the next four points for a hold to love. Gutsy.

Halep* 7-6 2-3 Konta (*denotes next server)

Konta races into a 40-0 lead but a double fault followed by back-to-back groundstroke errors see the game arrive at deuce. Halep misses her return to lose the next point before Konta seals the game with a forehand winner.

Halep* 7-6 3-4 Konta (*denotes next server)

A love hold for Konta as she keeps her nose ahead in this second set.

Halep* 7-6 4-5 Konta (*denotes next server)

At 30-30 Konta produces a big serve-backhand combo to bring up game point, which she takes with an unreturnable serve out wide.

Halep 7-6 5-5 Konta* (*denotes next server)

From 40-0 up Halep is pegged back to deuce as Konta moves to within two points of winning this second set. On the second deuce the Briton misses a short backhand to give Halep game point... and the Romanian takes it as Konta hits an easy volley into the tramlines.

Halep* 7-6 5-6 Konta (*denotes next server)

A routine hold to 15 as Konta guarantees herself a second-set tie-break at the very least.
