From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Day nine of the Wimbledon Championships sees a whole host of big names in action with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Serena Williams all on court at SW19.

Eight-time champion Federer is back in action on Centre Court against Kei Nishikori where defending champion Novak Djokovic will open proceedings against David Goffin of Belgium.

On Court One it'll be Argentina's Guido Pella and Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain opening things up before Nadal returns to face Sam Querrey of the United States in the final men's quarter-final.

And later on Andy Murray and Serena Williams will be in action too as they continue their much-anticipated mixed doubles campaign.

Some fun news from overnight: Wimbledon are working on a statue of Andy Murray for when he retires, chairman Philip Brook has revealed.

Chief executive Richard Lewis said in January after Murray raised the possibility of his imminent retirement that Wimbledon would honour the Scot in the same way as Fred Perry, whose bust is outside Centre Court.

Speaking to a group of reporters in the All England Club boardroom, Brook said: "What we don't want to do is retire him too early. Our thought all along is that we want to recognise Andy's significant achievements here at Wimbledon in an appropriate way and at an appropriate time.

"We think an appropriate time is to unveil something when he retires. We are working on it. We have done some work already on it and there is still more work to do."
