Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Follow the latest updates live from day three at Wimbledon where men’s world No 1 Novak Djokovic is back in second round action, as well as British No 1 Kyle Edmund and the American teenage sensation Cori Gauff.

The second round proved the end of the road for Heather Watson as she was knocked out by Anett Kontaveit early in the day, with former men's Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka also a shock exit on Wednesday afternoon. Karolina Pliskova successfully negotiated Monica Puig on Centre Court, with Kyle Edmund the biggest casualty losing to Fernando Verdasco before Novak Djokovic takes on Denis Kudla.

However, all eyes will be on No 2 Court where 15-year-old Gauff returns to action fresh from her incredible victory over Venus Williams. Follow all the action and results live.

*Edmund 6-4 6-4 3-1 Verdasco (40-40)

Hhhmmm. Seemingly in control at 40-0, Edmund makes three uncharacteristic errors, and suddenly Verdasco is back in with a chance.

Deuce.

*Edmund 6-4 6-4 3-1 Verdasco (40-40)

BREAK POINT VERDASCO, as Edmund goes wide with a backhand crosscourt, but he saves it with a booming serve out-wide.... phew.

Edmund 6-4 6-4 3-2 Verdasco*

VERDASCO BREAKS!

Verdasco wins a mammoth point on deuce no.2, as Edmund goes wide on the forehand... and on break point, Edmund's backhand this time let's him down, going at least a foot long!

He had a chance to gallop ahead there Edmund... that was a real screw-up from 40-0 up.

Back on serve on Centre!

*Edmund 6-4 6-4 3-3 Verdasco

Another missed chance for Edmund at 0-30, although this time Verdasco more or less took it out of his hands, with big serves and delicate play at the net.

Shortening points on serve seems to be the way forward for the Spaniard, who draws level here.

Edmund 6-4 6-4 4-3 Verdasco*

Edmund wins a tense, long point at 15-30, before closing out the game with a big serve and simple forehand pass, as Verdasco was stranded at the net.

*Edmund 6-4 6-4 4-4 Verdasco

Similarly to Edmund's previous game, Verdasco holds from 15-30 - a point Edmund was very much in until slipping behind the baseline.

4 apiece.

BREAKING NEWS - THURSDAY'S ORDER OF PLAY (SINGLES ONLY):

Kieran Jackson3 July 2019 16:35
1562168195

Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-4 Verdasco*

Edmund holds to love.

Will sets one and two repeat itself here, when Verdasco was broken for the set at 5-4? We shall see...

*Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-5 Verdasco

No repeat this time.

Verdasco holds to love, and was very, very good in that game. And he finally gets to 5-5!

Edmund 6-4 6-4 6-5 Verdasco*

Edmund holds to 15, and does it with a volley which clips the top of the net, leaving Verdasco himself helpless at the net. He stands there in astonishment!

Can the Spaniard get it to a tiebreak?
