From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Murray returned to SW19 for the first time on Thursday evening winning his first match in two years at the All England Club in the opening round of the men's doubles. Today he was set to get his mixed doubles campaign underway with 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams in what promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament. However Cori Gauff, the 15-year-old breakout star of the tournament, saw her match with Polona Hercog on Centre Court go to a third set meaning the blockbuster duo were made to wait.
We'll have all the latest for you throughout the day:

1 Andy Murray (GBR) / Serena Williams (USA) 5 vs Andreas Mies (GER) / Alexa Guarachi (CHI) 6
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 3-4 Gauff (30-30)
Very, very cagey point at 15-30, until Hercog eventually approaches the net and puts away an easy forehand volley.
Still two points from a break though...
Hercog 6-3 6-7 4-4 Gauff*
Hercog holds, as Gauff's forehand is way too passive again, before she pushes it long.
We've been playing for 2 hours and 26 minutes now, is Gauff starting to fatigue?
Big game here...
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 4-5 Gauff
Sorry, ignore me...
A love service hold for Gauff. At just the right time.
Hercog will serve to stay in it...
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 4-5 Gauff (30-30)
Gauff opens the point with a sizzling backhand winner, before Hercog composes herself to reach 30-15. But a chance here for Gauff now, at 30-30...
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 4-5 Gauff (40-40)
Hercog volleys her way to 40-30, but then misses a volley after an excruciatingly long point - that had to be 30+ shots?!
We go to deuce.
Hercog 6-3 6-7 5-5 Gauff*
Hercog holds, as Gauff misses a backhand into the net.
She never quite managed to get a math point opportunity, and on we go...
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 5-6 Gauff
Gauff holds to love AGAIN!
Supreme serving from the American, and she is a game away once more...
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 5-6 Gauff (30-30)
Hercog starts the game with a double fault, but again recovers to 30-15, before a two high-pressure smashes win the point for 30-30. Can she reach match point?
*Hercog 6-3 6-7 5-6 Gauff (40-40)
It is so, so nervy from both players out there, a war of attrition.
Another long rally is won by Hercog, but Gauff slices long and we're at deuce. AGAIN!
