From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. A vintage display from Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon 2019 final in an eagerly-anticipated first grass court match between the great rivals for 11 years on Friday.

The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-61-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday's showpiece

DJOKOVIC WINS THE FIRST SET!

A remarkable return takes the crowd and Bautista Agut by surprise, resulting in the Spaniard sending a forehand long.

Djokovic just too good in those opening 38 minutes. First set wrapped up.

Djokovic 6-2 1-0 Bautista Agut*

A love hold for Djokovic, who continues to serve supremely.

Big game here for Bautista Agut - the Spaniard needs some momentum on his own serve before he can even think about a break of his own.

Bautista Agut responds with a love service game himself, predominantly due to some big first serves.

Exactly what the doctor ordered.

Now then, the door is ajar.

Djokovic sends a backhand wide, before a lovely angled passing shot by Bautista Agut gives him 0-30...

Well then...

At 15-30, Djokovic breaks his string serving, then leaves the return thinking it's out but it drops bang on the baseline.

He looks down with bemusement - either way, it's TWO BREAK POINTS...

Djokovic 6-2 1-2 Bautista Agut*

BAUTISTA AGUT BREAKS!

And with a sweetly struck forehand inside-out winner, the Spaniard has his first break of the match!

He has the advantage early in the second - a rare nightmare game for Djokovic!

*Djokovic 6-2 1-3 Bautista Agut

Bautista Agut races to 40-0 with some aggressive shot-making, and eventually seals it with an ace out wide at 40-15!

A two-game lead for the Spaniard... now we have a match on!

A break in play here before Djokovic serves - I think something has happened to a member of the crowd, a fainting perhaps?
