From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A vintage display from Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon 2019 final in an eagerly-anticipated first grass court match between the great rivals for 11 years on Friday.

The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-61-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday's showpiece

Djokovic 1-0 Bautista Agut*

A hold to 15 for Djokovic, though Bautista Agut has set his stall out from the off - he won the first point with a blistering return winner off the forehand wing!

A few errors followed though, and Djokovic is on the board first on Centre.

Djokovic 1-0 Bautista Agut* (15-40)

TWO BREAK POINTS for Djokovic straight away, as Bautista Agut nets a couple of groundstrokes...

*Djokovic 2-0 Bautista Agut

DJOKOVIC BREAKS!

A backhand from the Spaniard sails long and Djokovic breaks straight away to 15!

Bautista Agut has hit two winners, but those are the only points he's won thus far.

Djokovic looks bang on it from the off...
