From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The second semi-final, between 7-time champion Serena Williams and Barbora Strycova is due to get underway in 5/10 minutes on Centre Court!
Don't go anywhere!
*Williams 0-0 Strycova
Serena will serve first to get this second semi-final underway!
Williams 1-0 Strycova*
Serena on the board straight away, as she holds her serve to 30 with some aggressive tennis and a simple volley put-away.
Serena is in her 12th Wimbledon semi-final, Strycova her first.
*Williams 1-1 Strycova
Solid hold for Strycova to 15, and the Czech is on the board.
Incidentally, in their three previous meetings (of which one was at Wimbledon in the first round in 2012), Strycova has never won a set.
Williams 2-1 Strycova*
Strycova tries one of her dropshots (which worked so well against Jo Konta) at 30-30, but it bundles into the net.
Serena wrong-foots Strycova on game point to hold serve.
Decent start from both players, as Centre Court starts to fill up...
Williams 2-1 Strycova* (40-40)
Serena lets out a frustrated scream after overhitting a return at 30-30, but comes back superbly - great defence from Strycova, but Serena eventually finishes off the point with a drive volley.
Williams 2-1 Strycova* (ad Williams)
Strycova nets another drop shot attempt. BREAK POINT...
